Making Cloth with Color & Texture - $85
Wet Felting
Making Cloth with Colour & Texture — $150
Together, we’ll turn loose fibres into cloth using warm water, soap, and the work of our hands, choosing colours and textures that speak to us. A place for a candle and a few gathered treasures, or a piece of colour for your wall.
In this two-day workshop, there’s room for a landscape, an abstract design, or a combination we’re curious to try. We’ll learn to lay out fibres, blend colours, and build layers, discovering how their direction can suggest clouds, water, hills, trees, or some mystery unfolding.
We begin with light patting, then gradually increase the pressure and movement as the fibres hold together. Rubbing, rolling, and agitation bring the piece into firmly felted cloth. It takes effort, and we’ll learn how to work with the material as it changes beneath our hands. Across two days, we’ll have more time to explore our designs and work through the felting process, with breaks to rest along the way.
We’ll explore colour theory, design, and practical felting techniques—giving our intuition more tools to work with. We’ll use meditation to pause, listen to our intuition, and notice what colours, feelings, or images come to mind, letting our own inner guidance help shape what we create.
The size of your piece is flexible within the space available at your workstation. If you’d like to create a picture, a selection of upcycled frames is provided, and choosing a frame can help guide the size of your work.
We’ll spend two days together, with six hours of workshop time and a one-hour lunch break each day, with time to rest, share conversation, and get to know one another.
