Embellished Felted Landscape
Wool and stitch

Embellished
Felted Landscape
Needle felting with hand stitch
This workshop begins with fibre — loose wool shaped through repeated needlework into a landscape.
From there, we move into stitch.
Hand embroidery is used to build into the felted surface — adding line, texture, and detail that can’t be achieved through fibre alone. Stitch becomes a way to refine, define, and sometimes shift what’s already there.
The process moves between forming and responding.
What begins as a simple composition can change as texture builds and new elements are introduced.
You may start with a landscape in mind.
Or let the materials lead and see what takes shape.
We’ll explore:
• Building a landscape using needle felting
• Working with fibre to create depth, form, and composition
• Using stitch to add line, texture, and definition
• Combining soft fibre with more structured embroidery
• Moving between planned design and intuitive development
• Letting the work evolve rather than fixing it too early
This workshop builds on basic stitching skills and introduces how embroidery can be used within a fibre-based surface.
Participants will leave with a finished felted landscape and a deeper understanding of how stitch and fibre can work together.
This workshop builds on basic embroidery skills.
Completion of the Stitch Book Workshop is recommended.
